Solar Power Battery Pack
Solar power instead of battery?
I have a 7.2v 1100 NiMH battery. I want to feed the engine with solar cells. Should I use five or seven 1.5V 135mA 1.0V 415mA cells cells? Thank you for any contribution you might have.
what is "NiMH"? I suspect "1100" is mA-hour, and it is a battery capacity, not a current. You need to know the current consumption of the engine. If it is 1 A, example, the battery runs the motor for one hour, if it is 0.5 amps, the pack should be run for two hours. second is much more powerful, the use that (1v 415 Ma) Assuming that the engine can suck 0.5 amps (500 mA) at 7.2V, so theoretically you can use 7 cells in series to obtain 7 volts at 415 mA. Manufacturers tend to overestimate their cells more, For example, you can get a volt if the current is low, or 415mA if the voltage is low, but not both.
