What should I replace fossil fuels in the production of the electricity industry?
The Depertment of Energy said we currently have a production capacity of about 1 trillion watts. About 70% of which is currently coming from the combustion of fossil fuels, about 10% nuclear, 7.7% hydroelectric dams, 2.4% from wind, solar, geothermal, etc. See the link below to source. How should we try to change those numbers in the future? I seek the relative proportions of each source you think we should include, for example, a "solar third, a third breath, a third fossil, some nuclear "or even exact persentages revised. Or even if you think today's numbers are OK. http://www.eia.doe.gov/cneaf/electricity/epa/epat2p2.html
WOW this table was a revelation! Doing some quick calculations, he revealed the tremendous power output of a nuke plant typical 1 gigawatt! This compares to a 14 megawatts of pitiful so-called "renewable" source. To answer your question, I would replace ALL fossil fuel plants by nuclear power, and leave all the existing hydroelectric plants, solar and wind things up at least until they can pay their construction costs. If ever. It would also substantially to our divorcing once and for all petroleum Arabic. Solar and wind are best considered participants in the niche strategy, because they can be erected where there no water cooling, as in the vast deserts of federally owned land in the West.
