Does this idea fit for the science fair?

I've two ideas I loved but I'm not sure they would fit for the science fair.

Note that a science fair project should be testing a hypothesis.
here are the Ideas:

1. Make a remote controlled light switch
2. Make your own solar powered cell phone - mp3 charger

Give me your opinion. If these ideas won't fit, please give me ideas that would include something to test in the same topic.

Making something wouldn't fit unless you're doing some testing or experimenting on the items. Think of some experiment you could do on either thing.
