How can I use solar energy for a cheap way? Can I plug my laptop in a solar panel?
I want to buy something cheap that I can use as a simple plug regularly. I would like to be able to plug anything in it (microwave, so I will not be able to wire anything, if this stuff is out of question. I do not want to run my house with solar energy, but perhaps some something smaller.
Let me start by saying we (my family and I) live fully, 100% "off the grid and are completely autonomous" The house is built using natures natural elements, in the form of an octagon with 8ft wide arch doors on every wall to catch every angle of wind Solar, solar AC, heating, solar water heating (pool and home), solar cooker, solar, wind, hydrogen generator Relief, hydrogen back up water heater, stove hydrogen, 2 hydrogen powered trucks, 1 EV (vehicle electric) and satellite internet. There are no utility lines, no water lines, no roads, tv, cell service, etc. on our ranch. Everything needed is produced here. All electricity is 27 solar panels, 2 main wind people and a hydrogen generator back if needed (typically we can last 9 days with all luxuries of sunless windless weather, has not happened yet). Water is captured and storaged rain. Hot water is made with solar batch water heater with a heating demand hydrogen hot water as the backup. Even our vehicles use alternative energy (2 hydrogen trucks, 1 EV electric vehicle converted). For this reason we have no bills, no debt and no mortgage. Steps aside were taken directly from a DIY guide I propose those who wish to manage their homes to solar power safely, reducing their monthly utility bills or even selling power electric companies. The full guide is available at agua-luna com www. Its fairly simple, but if you have any problems, please let me contact, I can walk you threw the process. Materials you'll need a sheet of copper flashing from the hardware store. This normally costs about $ 5.00 per square foot. We will need about half a square foot. Two alligator clip leads. A sensitive micro-ammeter can read currents between 10 and 50 microamperes. Radio Shack sells small LCD multimeters that will do, but I used a small surplus meter with a needle. An electric stove. My kitchen stove is gas, so I bought a small one burner electric hotplate for about $ 25. The little 700 watt burners probably will not work - mine is 1100 watts, so the burner is red hot. A large clear plastic bottle We want a couple tablespoons of salt. Tap water. sandpaper or wire brush on an electric drill. Sheet metal shears for cutting sheet copper. The first step is to cut a piece of sheet copper which is the size of the burner of the stove. Wash your hands so that they have or wire to clean the copper sheets, so that light sulphide or other corrosion is eliminated. Next, place the cleaned copper foil and dried on the burner and turn the burner to its highest setting. As the copper starts to heat up, you will see models of oxidation nice start to form. Orange, purple, red and cover the copper. As the copper gets hotter, the colors are replaced by a black coating of copper oxide. This is not the oxide we want, but come off later, showing the reds, oranges, pinks, purples and cuprous oxide layer underneath. The last bits of color disappear the burner starts to glow. When the burner is lit red, the copper foil is coated with a layer black copper oxide. Cook for half an hour, so the black coating be thick. This is important because a thick layer peeling property while a thin layer of copper will remain stuck. After the half-hour of cooking, turn off the burner. Let the copper heat on the burner to cool slowly. If you cool it too quickly, the black oxide will stay stuck to the copper. As the copper cools, it shrinks. The black oxide of copper decreases. But they shrink at different rates, making the luster black oxide copper off. The little black flakes pop off the copper with enough force to make them fly a few inches. This means an effort to clean a little around the stove, but it is fun to watch. When the copper has cooled to room temperature (this takes about 20 minutes), most of the black oxide will be gone. A light wash your hands under running water will remove most small pieces. Resist the temptation to remove all the black spots by scrubbing or by flexing the soft copper. This could damage the delicate red cuprous oxide layer, we must make to the work of the solar cell. Cut another sheet of copper about the same size as the first. Fold the two pieces gently, so they will fit in the plastic bottle or jar without touching one another. The cuprous oxide layer that was oriented up on the burner is usually the best team to face off in the pot, because it has smooth, clean surface. Attach the two clips Crocodile son, the new copper plate and a plate to the copper oxide coated. Connect the cord from the clean copper plate to the positive terminal of meter. Connect the wire from the plate of copper oxide to the negative terminal of the meter. Now, mix c. tablespoon of salt in a couple a little water hot tap. Stir in salt water until all salt is dissolved. Then carefully pour the saltwater into the jar, making careful not to get the clip leads wet. The saltwater should not completely cover the plates - you should leave an inch of plate above the water, so you can move the solar cell around without getting the clip leads wet. Now place in the sun with magnefied on top. The solar cell is a battery, even in the dark, and usually show a few microamps of current. That is that simple.
