Help with solar cells and circuits?
I just watched a cool video on how to make a solar powered USB charger (http://www.metacafe.com/watch/800000/solar_powered_usb_charger_cheap_and_easy_to_make/) and decided to do it because it seemed an excellent idea. But when I tested it, nothing happened. I made the connections mentioned in the video [positive to positive, negative to negative, and 2 bridges from negative to positive (though the guy has never added the second bridge)]. Have you to add a voltage regulator, or to all connections from positive to negative instead of the same connections? Any ideas on what happened and how to fix it? Thank you! Thank you.
Did you test it with a meter? Or to charge a phone or something? If the meter reads zero, it is the wiring. If the phone does not load, you must ensure that the thing is totally out of power. If is a responsible, solar cells may not have enough juice to push the power in the battery. Most shippers use a diode to ensure the power can go Feeder EQT and not vice versa. And then there is the possibility of overloading the EQT and ruin the battery and even the EQT. In the video, you will notice he got rid of the circuit that regulates power and protects the battery pack. There is a reason why these things are there. I recommend you watch other videos on the subject. There should be those who will give you a better more reliable setup. Or at least a second point of view wiring to provide additional information.
